In healthcare, the traditional 70-30 split—where approximately 70% of the focus is on administrative burden and 30% on patient care—has long been accepted as the norm. At Nuvoair, we are committed to changing this ratio. To shift this balance, it is essential to recognize and track the “silent” work happening behind the scenes to support patient care.
A significant portion of this silent work is carried out by clinical staff—such as our care coordinators—but it often goes untracked. This work includes ad hoc meetings with clinics and other informal interactions. The challenge with deploying AI in these areas is that many of these workflows are undocumented and invisible. While we already track clinician activities through our care portal, a substantial amount of work happens verbally and has not been recorded or attributed.
Last week marked an important step in our journey to automate and track the work of care coordinators (CCs) and other clinical staff. We launched the first phase: a scribe tool for care coordinators. While many companies focus on providing scribe services for doctors, it is equally important to integrate this functionality into the workflows of clinical staff who support patients every day.
By doing so, we will begin capturing and attributing work that was previously invisible. This development opens up possibilities that were not feasible before.
What’s Next:
As we gather more data through these tools, we’ll accumulate a wealth of insights to power the AI models we are developing. These models aim to unlock the next level of efficiency—streamlining operations and enhancing patient care. The silent work may have gone unseen until now, but we are changing that—and it will lead to better outcomes for both patients and healthcare providers.
